MY FATHER

"A father hold his daughter's hand for a short while, but he holds her heart forever."

Among many people in life, the role of father keeps a great importance. Today I'm in this beautiful stage due to my father.  My father name is Basanta Khadka; a person who sacrifices his life to make the life of me and our family members prosperous . Apart from many difficulties in life, my father bears all the burdens of our family and we members. He is responsible for the upbringing and upliftment of our family members.

My father is a good-looking person with age year of 38 having a well-built health and hygiene. He is an event organizer and well disciplined man. He has a loving and caring nature and fulfills all our needs and demands on a call. He too scolds me if I'm in wrong track.  He wears formal dresses at office and at home normally in all kinds of loose fitting dresses. He is a theist and charitable person. He advice me to help others and pay respect to the elders. He is an early riser and punctual on his duties.

Actually, my father is very busy person. He doesn't even get holiday on Saturday. My father is sociably very popular and  has a deep respect for other good people. He mixes well with the society and attends all meetings of social functions far and near. He is respected by all among his near and dear ones. He always wants to see me getting success in my life. My father is the role model of our family.

Furthermore, My father is the best father in this world. I see him as my role model personally and prefer to be like him in my life. He taught me lot of things to carry out my burdens and also showed the path of success. All the time he tells me to attain the path of truth and righteousness. He has always been a good motivator and friend for me. I always want to see him happy throughout his life and want to fulfill his dreams as he imagined in me. Thus, in my father's happiness truly lies my prosperity!!!

                               THANK YOU!!!

My One Day Experience With Nepal Police

We all are very well-known about police. Police simply refers to the civil force of a state, responsible for the prevention and detection of crime and the maintenance of public security, peace and order. The police of Nepal is responsible for maintaining law and order and prevention of crime according to the constitution of Nepal and is under the authority of the Ministry of Home Affairs. Sarbendra Khanal is the current IGP (Inspector General) of Nepal Police. The main aim of the Metropolitan Police Office is to prevent crime and the fear of crime and provide effective, efficient and fair police service to the people in order to build safe, healthy and prepared neighborhoods throughout the Kathmandu Valley. So, to make the Kathmandu valley one of the safest valleys in the world Nepal Police Force is trying there best.

Nowadays, the bad concept towards police is increasing rapidly. People are unaware about the positive aspects of police. Due to lack of public participation Nepal Police are facing several troubles. People's participation and co-operation are not actively seen in helping the police force. That's why; we grade IX students of Jagat Mandir Secondary School took part in the one day police-community partnership program to co-operate with the police force conducted in Metropolitan Police Office, Ranipokhari, Kathmandu. We were given a short class by DSP (Deputy Superintendent of Police) Shantiraj Koirala. We were shown the presentation about the misuse of social media and cyber crime. He removed our confusion towards the bad concept regarding police and clarified the responsibilities of good & loyal police inspector. DSP Koirala awares us about the adverse effect of cyber crime and consequences of misusing social media. He too aware us about the cyber bullying, phising, rape case, blackmailing, sexting, sextortion and hacking accounts. Some videos related to cyber crime and rape case were shown to us.

Nowadays, our society is too much influenced in social media. In the present context, suicide case has increased rapidly and many people are being depressed & frustrated due to cyber bullying and blackmailing. So, to get rid of these kinds of issues we were provided this community-police awareness program. After a short interval, we went to observe the control room of Metropolitan Police Office. Many police inspectors were assigned different computers to observe CCTV photage of different places in order to reduce crimes in the valley. Some of the people were registering their complains as well. If any accident is occurred, the police force immediately reaches at the spot and investigates further. After we completed our observation, we went to Nepal Police Canine Operation Division, Ranibari, Kathmandu. Many dogs were kept in the different rooms separately. There were many horses as well trained by traffic police. All the dogs have their own importance and responsibility.

As told by one of the police inspector, there are mainly 4 types of dogs. They are:
  • Tracker Dogs
  • Bomb Dogs
  • Narcotics Dogs
  • Search & Rescue Dogs
All the above mentioned types of dogs performed their talent & skill infront of us. All of us enjoyed a lot. They all have their only one and unique talent. There are mainly 8 breeds of dogs. They are:
  • German Shepherd
  • Belgium Shepherd
  • Dutch Shepherd
  • Beagle
  • Labrador
  • Golden Retriever
  • Cocker Spaniel
  • Bloodhound

In conclusion, this one day police-community partnership program was very inspirational, motivational, effective, efficient and interesting. We grade IX students learned about our own protection, security, internal peace and order. We are aware about the cyber crime, cyber bullying, phishing and blackmailing. We must not share our password even with the closest person and publish personal message on public posts. We should first verify app then use it safely. Don't even accept friend request from unknown person and resources. I'm sincerely grateful towards the school administration and community-police force for giving us the opportunity to attend this beneficial & awareness program that will help a lot in my upcoming days. "Think before you Click".

THANK YOU!!!

"आँधीको मनोरम नृत्य"

Drama is a composition in verse or prose presenting a story in pantomime or dialogue. It contains conflict of characters, particularly the ones who perform in front of audience on the stage. Our school gave us a chance to watch drama based on teenagers' psychology. We were taken to Shilpi Theatre of Battisputali to watch drama named "Andhi Ko Manoram Nritya" on date 9th May,2019.Students of grade 8, 9 & 10 with five teachers went there as audience. It is a drama based on true facts of teenagers' and Nepalese society.

This drama is a tale of teenagers' psychology and the tragedy that they have experienced. Modernity and urbanization has begun to drink new generation from the transition of life to Nepalese society. Is the responsibility of parents fulfilled when the children are exposed to the school bus after feeding them and making them ready for school? Can parents expect the positive progress of children by paying expensive fees only? The drama raised these questions. The drama has sprouted what condition and what the genre is growing in between the new generations.

At home, even more in the same sofa, the children are grabbing mobile games and are always in their own world. Even with coworkers in the office, the social network has created different personalized worlds. Drama advocates that the children should grow up with proper guardianship in the environment they want. The drama has also shown how normal teenage friendship moves towards the accident when not finding the appropriate environment and proper solution to their curiosity. Problems such as using mobile in schools, smoking, abusive abuse, general relations are also related to sexual intercourse, and for the reason why children should leave school is clearly seen in the drama.

There are problems inside the house. There is discrimination. Son is given mobile to play games whereas daughter is forced to wipe table and windows. Society still from the psychiatric, seeing mother's failure to work at home and guilty person for not taking care of children by the men's psychology. This drama is full of emotional moments and creativeness. It is presented in such an easy way with lots of positive things that every individual mainly teenagers should learn. The actors are fabulous as they gave a brilliant performance in the stage. All the music and choreography was amazing. This drama is well worth seeing. It will touch the heart of many people. Don't miss it!!!

                                                     THANK YOU!!!

ISA PROJECT 10 (Preparation and Distribution of MO:MO)

Food is one of the biggest aspects of a culture. Food has even made its way into pop culture. I mean, the only reason anyone gets on Face book is to watch “Tasty” videos, and the cooking show “Chopped” is even on Netflix. It’s not often that we actually try out the demonstrated recipe or take advice from the real-life cooks that we watch. Students and young adults in general forget about the importance and the benefits of cooking for themselves. Learning how to cook is one of the most important skills a person can have. When you cook for yourself you learn to enjoy healthy foods that you’ve always hated. It’s so satisfying knowing that I have a life skill and that at the end of the day I’ve done something productive. Cooking keeps us self-sufficient, healthy, and creative and boosts up our social skills as well.

The main objective of this project “Preparation and Distribution of mo: mo”is to make we students understand the value of food with its making procedures. We students; some are known how to cook food and many others of us are unknown how to cook food. So, this project is being done to make students like us get some ideas about importance of cooking in our life.  We are altogether 47 students and 4 teachers (Khem Sir, Deepak Sir, Kamal Sir and Aarati Mam) involved and working in this project. The theme of our project is to prepare Mo: Mo and distribute to every students, teaching and non-teaching staffs of our school and as a part of social responsibility to help orphanage.

Here is given the brief and clear description of Activities that helped and will help further in attaining the projected learning outcomes:

1)      Orientation class:

In this class, we were provided the information about the preparation of food (Mo: Mo), its history, importance and economic benefits. We too were taught a lesson about Mo: Mo separately in OBTE subject. Our project teacher Mr. Deepak Shrestha shared the plan made by him and other project teachers with us. He told that they had made plan to provide necessary materials to the orphanage.

2)      Group Division:

To enhance leadership, collaboration and communication skill; our project teachers divided us into 4 groups (A, B, C, D). We each group were assigned different tasks required to complete in this project. There are different departments assigned to each group and project teachers.

3)      Field visit:

One of the major parts of this project is field visit in local hotel to prepare Mo: Mo. In the hotel we went, the staffs gave us information about ingredients used in Mo: Mo, kima, pickle and also taught us how to give specified shape to Mo: Mos of different types.

4)      Amount Collection:

We first collected the required data and information from students of Nursery to Grade 10, teaching and non-teaching staffs. Through this, we found that there are altogether 463 members in the JM family. After that, we prepared notice and sent it to guardians. Next day, we collected the amount mentioned in the notice from each students and teachers. We arranged the amount in order and did calculation.

5)      Utensils Collection:

We each group brought the required utensils asked by our project teachers.

6)      Buying ingredients:

Group B and D went for shopping and bought all the required ingredients from money collected.

7)      Cutting vegetables:

Group A and C were assigned the task of cutting vegetables. So, we first washed out the vegetables, peeled out them and cut them into small fine pieces. We too made paste of garlic and ginger.

8)      Dough-making:

Firstly, we mixed the Maida and water in proper proportion in 3 or 4 batas. Then, we made dough from that proportion.

These were the activities that we did the day before the Tiffin day. Now, the activities we did on the Tiffin day are discussed below:

1)      Preparation of pickle:

For the preparation of pickle, we first fried the peanuts and white til. Then, we heated the oil and fried the vegetables chopped the day before it with required seasonings. After that, we mixed it with peanuts and white til in the mixer. We added some lapsi to make it sour flavored.

2)      Preparation of kima:

For the preparation of veg kima, we first combined the 3 vegetables in a decchi and added in all the ingredients of the vegetable filing. We added required seasonings and mixed it well. We set it aside till it is ready to use. For chicken kima, we first combined all chicken and ingredients with seasonings in 2 batas and mixed it well. We set it aside till it is ready to use.

3)      Preparation of Mo: Mo:

We first knead the dough for 10-15 minutes. We then made small ball from that dough and rolled it occasionally which gave it the shape of disc. While we were making disc our other friends filled the fillings in the disc. Some students added water to the base of the steamer and allowed it to come to rolling boil. They brushed some oil in the slotted portion to avoid the Mo: Mos sticking to the base. We then placed the Mo: Mos in it, avoiding over-crowding them. Vegetables one took about 12 minutes and chicken one about 12-15 minutes. Once done, we removed it carefully from the steamer and kept in hot case.

4)      Distribution of Mo: Mo:

To distribute Mo: Mos to each graders, some of the students holded the duty of distributing Mo: Mos to the teachers and students. They brought the students class wise and distributed Mo: Mos to them. After all the students and teachers were provided Mo: Mos, we students of grade 8 too tasted the Mo: Mos.

5)      Management of solid wastes:

We all scattered and started to collect the wastes wrappers, materials and managed them properly in one place. Some swept the floor and some washed the utensils. After that, we collected our utensils brought from home and our school principal thanked us for organizing the Tiffin day. We were very happy and tired on that day.

Throughout this project, we got to know that how important is it to learn to cook. We eradicate our heartfelt gratitude to our project teachers for giving us this opportunity to learn to prepare Mo: Mo. Before I was not able to make Mo: Mo but after this project I have learnt to prepare Mo: Mo myself. So, we too thank British Council for giving us this project related to cooking. This is the life time skill that I got through this project. From the money remained our project teachers have decided to provide necessary materials to the orphanage.

Amount collected for preparation of Momo are-:

Total amount collected = Rs 33220

Expended = Rs 25720

Amount remained = Rs 7500

Here is given the brief and clear description of our Activities that helped orphanage a lot :

 Buying Lactogen:

We altogether eight students with three teachers went to buy lactogen. We bought 18 packets from the shop. The remaining 7 packets out of 25 was bought later by teacher. After that, we gave this information to our classmates.

Distributing Lactogen:

We distributed lactogen to the volunteers of that organization (Nepal Children Organization). There were children from 2 months to 19 years. We distributed chocolates to small children. Clothes like woolen caps, socks etc. for small children brought by Binu Mam were provided to them on her effort. After distribution, we interviewed the volunteer and went back to school.

Throughout this activity, we got to know the importance of parents. I feel as I am the luckiest person to get love and support from my parents. We eradicate our sincere gratitude to our project teachers for giving us this opportunity to help the orphanage. The labor and hard work we did was properly utilized. We are proud and glad to provide support to an organization as well as an orphanage.

Not only this much, we too planned to include and prepare international food with recipe and serve to all 8 graders and non-teaching and teaching staffs. After doing long research of international dishes, we selected Chole Bhature as our international dish. Here is given short description about Chole Bhature:-

Chole Bhature is a combination of two dishes coupled together to become a great delicacy of North India. Chole is the chick peas which is prepared in a spicy concoction and is coupled with Bhature which is fried bread made of maida flour. The origin of Chole seems to be from Punjab while the dish is relished a lot in North India. The dish is served with pickle and onions and also, lassi is thought to be the best companion of the dish. This dish is similar to poori tarkari.

The dish is available in almost all eating places in North India and also on street vendors. The dish can also be prepared at home in a healthier and less-oily manner and also the bhature can be made filled with potato, cottage cheese etc. the dish is considered for a heavy breakfast, Chole Bhature is a great treat for college students who enjoy this delicious dish greatly.

Some of the amount we expended for preparation of Chole Bhature are-:

1) Departmental Store=Rs 2765

2) Vegetables= Rs 250

3) Curd= Rs 100

4) Masala= Rs 80

5) Catering= Rs 690

6) Plastic materials= Rs 330

 Total amount = Rs 4215

We with the great help and support of Aarati Mam made Chole Bhature quickly and in convenient manner. Like the preparation of mo:mo it was not difficult. We smoothly and successfully completed the preparation of Chole Bhature. This dish was really very tasty and healthy too. Rather, all students and staffs added this dish once or more than that. This dish is very appealing. That's why we will try this recipe at home as well.

Through this preparation of Chhole Bhature, we came to know the presence of most appealing, tasty and healthy dish popular in India. We are known about the preparation of Chhole Bhature. We would like to thank our project teachers for their support and co-ordination to build up our lifetime skill. We are feeling proud to be part of this wonderful project.

Camp spring wood at Dhading

"Travel makes one modest. You see what a tiny place you occupy in the world.”

Travelling is different for everyone. Some people travel for work, for family, for tourism, for adventure, for culture, and beyond these all as well. Travelling provides us with new experiences and perspectives. We are able to see the world in a different way and learn about new things as well as about ourselves. During our travels, we see new things that we have never experienced in our daily life before. By travelling, we can make new friends, and, most importantly, we can understand how tiny we are. In short, travelling is not just only a mean to go sightseeing in a new place; it is a deep interaction between one’s self and culture.Travelling helps us jump from our original world to a world we cannot see from our computer at home. Depending on how much we immerse ourselves, we will discover different things.

Before, I had gone to hike with my friends for many times. I too have traveled with my family many times, but it was the first time (2075/08/21-22) I spent my two days one night long tour with my friends. For this trip, we were altogether 41 students and 4 teachers( Bijay sir, Rajan sir, Murari sir and Sarita mam) ready to travel. We departed from school at 11:15 a.m. We all sang the song played in the bus and dance all along the way to camp spring wood at Dhading. We reached there at 3:00 p.m. , all tired and surprised to see the view of that place where we were going to enjoy at night. In the queue, one of the staff of that camp spring wood listed out all the rules that need to be followed out by us. All the activities that we have performed are briefly described below.

1) Lunch time:
After being refresh and keeping our belongings in respective tents, we came to the restaurant nearby the place we were staying and had lunch. In lunch, we ate beaten rice and curry. It was too tasty. After having lunch, we played badminton for sometime.

2) Visit to beach:
We went to beach side of the Trishuli river where the sand was so deep that we couldn't take out our foot without some effort. We played with water for sometime which was very cold and refreshing. We didn't want to come out of that water but we were getting late to move for evening walk.

3) Evening Walk:
Sometimes after the visit, we all students and teachers went for a walk across the Trishuli river using jholunge bridge. Across that river there is a very beautiful place but we couldn't stay for long time due to darkness. We returned from there after 20-25 minutes.

4) Campfire & Chicken barbecue:
It was dark when we came from the evening walk. The staffs light the campfire. We all started to dance in the song played at the speaker. We had our heavy dinner. Our teacher Rajan sir started to prepare chicken barbecue after sometimes. We all ate it and it was very tasty. Some boys too played guitar and madal and sang the songs. We all enjoyed very much. At mid night, Murari sir shared some of his real incidents with us related to ghost. We too went to see ghost near the river side but found nothing else than silence. After 2-3 min, we came back and slept.

5) Hiking :
After having breakfast, we went for a hike to Chepang village. We walked for half an hour and reached to the Krishna temple which is still being constructed. The lifestyle of these villagers is very simple. They have some goats, buffaloes, cows and hens for animal husbandry. They have good cultivation of cabbage for their livelihood. After knowing their lifestyle, we came back to the place where we had our meal.

6) Competitions :
Some of the competitions like running race, push up, drama etc. were organized at the river side and winners too got the reward. After these activities, some of us shared our experience with all. After sometimes, we packed our things and departed from there at 2:50 p.m. Due to traffic jam we reached at school at 6:15 p.m.

Actually, this trip was very inspirational trip for me. I got to learn many things through this trip. I feel as I'm the luckiest person in the world to have this joyful experience. I express by heartful gratitude to our teachers who made this plan to take us tour at Dhading.

My Experience of Dashain Festival

During the month of Ashwin and Kartik (late September and early October), we all Nepalese people indulge in the biggest festival of the year, Dashain. Dashain is the longest and the most auspicious festival in the Nepalese annual calendar, celebrated by Nepalese of all caste and creed throughout the country. Although it is the festival of Hindus, everyone in the country enjoy this festival with equal enthusiasm and pump. It is one of the greatest and religious festivals of Hindus.

I also celebrate Dashain with very joy and happiness from first day to last day. Dashain is no doubt the biggest festival of the Hindus. The weather during Dashain smells of prosperity and happiness in life. The quality time I spend with my family during the holiday is very valuable for me. I do not like the sacrificing of animals and consumption of too much of oily and spicy food in the name of Dashain. As far as visiting relatives are concerned, what I believe is we do not need to wait for Dashain to be with those who matter to us.

First Day: Ghatasthapana
In preparation of Dashain, our house was cleaned and beautifully decorated. On this day, I helped my parents for sowing barley grass. I was very happy on this day.

Seventh Day: Phulpati
On this day, I went to village with my parents. We brought Phulpati inside the house. My grandfather made swing for my sister.

Eighth Day: Mahastami
On this day, my grandfather and father went to near by temple and sacrificed goat to goddess durga.

Ninth Day: Mahanawami
On this day, my father worshipped his motorcycle and I played  swing all day. My mother coooked different food items this day.

Tenth Day: Bijaya Dashami
On this day, I received tika, jamara and blessings from elders of my family. I went to mama's house with my parents this day only. I received tika, jamara and blessings from grandfather, grandmother and maternal uncle and aunt also. The next day of Dashain, I returned to Kathmandu with my family.

Actually, I experienced that we should celebrate this festival to conserve our tradition and identity after celebrating this festival. I see many people these days are being extravagant in the name of celebrating this festival. It is must for us to think our income while celebrating the festival.

My Experience of Tihar Festival

Tihar, known as Deepawali; Yamapanchak and also the festival of lights is one of the most dazzling of all Hindu festivals. We worship Goddess Laxmi, the Goddess of wealth or fortune. It is a five days festival which comes soon after the Dashain festival. This festival is all about worshipping of different animals such as crow, dog, cow and worshipping of the Hindu Goddess of Fortune or Wealth (Goddess Laxmi).

Kaag tihar:
It is the first day of tihar. On this day, I gave some food to crow and worshipped it.

Kukur tihar:
It is the second day of tihar. On this day, I worshipped street dog and gave some food to it.

Laxmi Puja:
It is the third day of  tihar. In the morning, cow is worshipped and in the evening goddess Laxmi is worshipped. On this day,  I went to the temple and worshipped the cow in the morning whereas I decorated my house with flowers, lamps and candles to welcome Laxmi the Goddess of wealth. I also decorated the ghada and knitted garland for my brothers. I made rangoli and illuminate it as well as  house with twinkling diyos.

Govardhan Puja:
It is the fourth day of tihar. On this day, I made sel and roti to help my mother. In evening, I wrapped kismis for my brothers and maternal uncle.

Bhai Tika:
It is the fifth and last day of tihar. On this day, I took bath early in the morning. I too helped my mother to make different items. I and my sister put a seven-coloured tika on the foreheads of our brothers and pray for their long lives and prosperity. We garland them and offered them good foods, sweets and fruits. My brothers too put tika on my forehead and gave me gifts and dakshina.

Though Tihar festival is so useful; it is not free from evils. Gambling should be discouraged among the people. It is a blot on this happy day. Festivals like tihar are the only occasions for showing the social and religious spirit of the nation.
